During that same season, he completed forty touchdown passes, eight interceptions, and sixteen consecutive completions in spite of the reconstructive knee surgeries that prevented him from being able to scramble and forcing the Oklahoma Sooners to use the shotgun formation for all of their offensive plays. Jason White won the Heisman Trophy that year for his perseverance and courage and become the first Oklahoma Sooner quarterback to win one. The accolades did not just stop there. He was unanimously voted All-American and is a recipient of the Sporting News Player of the Year and Associated Press Player of the Year. He also is a two-time winner of both the Davey O’Brien Award and the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
Jason White is the epitome of determination, endurance, and adaptability. Having to contend with excruciatingly painful anterior cruciate ligament tears to both of his knees for two seasons, he continued to play football and be a championship quarterback in his third and fourth season. He is also a team player – he relentlessly advocated for teammate Adrian Peterson to win the Heisman Trophy when both were finalists.
Jason currently resides at his original hometown in Oklahoma where he grew up doing construction work with his father. He is a business owner of several diversified construction businesses. He recently appeared in a Nissan commercial with NFL player Tim Tebow.
