Cord McCoy is sibling number five of parents Denny and Janet McCoy. Cord was raised on his family’s ranch in Tupelo, Oklahoma. He rode a calf in his first rodeo at the age of five and never looked back. He spent his childhood competing in youth rodeos nearly every weekend. He earned several High School National titles and began competing at the professional level as a teenager in the sport of bull riding, bareback, and saddle bronc riding. He earned a full ride rodeo scholarship to Southwestern Oklahoma State University and graduated in 2003 with a degree in Business. Cord continued to ride professionally after college winning five International Professional Rodeo World Champion titles. In 2004 Cord suffered an almost life ending injury when he was kicked in the head and crushed his skull while coming off a bucking horse at a PRCA rodeo in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After eight months of rehab where he re-learned the basic skills of walking and talking again, he returned to the arena qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo in 2005. In 2006 Cord began focusing strictly on the sport of bull riding and began competing in the PBR. It was a dream come true for McCoy to not only be capable to ride again in a sport that he loved, but to compete at the highest level of competition. Cord qualified for the Professional Bull Riders Finals six times and was a member of Team USA at the World Cup in Australia.

In 2009, Cord and his brother Jet competed in the hit television series show The Amazing Race season 16. They quickly earned the title as ‘The Cowboys’ and are known by many as the television series ‘Fan Favorites’. They were invited back to race in two All-Star seasons, season 18 and 24. Although they never won the million dollar prize, they won the hearts of America and were honored to represent the western lifestyle all across the world.

Today, Cord and his wife, Sara ranch together near Tupelo, Oklahoma where they raise bucking bulls and Quarter horses.
